Our Mission:

The Mission of the Lost highway Rocketeers is to find and restore, as well as preserve iconic Automotive Americana. We want to arouse the enthusiasm in these rolling historic masterpieces. We will do this by sharing our adventures in the old car community and giving valuable insights for finding, purchasing, repairing, restoring and cruising them until the wheels fall off!!!

Whether you’re a mechanical expert in the field of classic cars or just someone who saw an old Firebird rolling down the street and gasped at its beauty, the Lost Highway Rocketeers YouTube channel has something for you.

When it comes to old cars, there are many resources on the internet to find what you’re looking for, but the Rocketeers want to bring you a more entertaining classic-car experience. With a motley cast of Colorado characters and a bit of old car humor, the Rocketeers invite you to explore a world of the past. It’s not Will and Holly going over the waterfall back into the age of the Dinosaurs: They’re asking you to travel back to a time of sock-hops, do-wops, drug store malts, bell bottoms, tube tops, white t-shirts with cigarettes in the sleeves, and brill cream.

Finding Old Cars - The Rocketeers will assist you in finding and confirming the make and model of the car for which you seek. They’ll give you insights in where to look for your classic car. They’ll assist you in understanding the true condition of the vehicle and the costs associated with its restoration. Follow the Rocketeers through the entire process of finding, evaluating, negotiating the purchase price and fully restoring classic muscle.

The Mechanics of Classic Muscle - Professor Andy’s classroom and shop talks, referred to as Andy’s Brain Dumps, will give you extremely valuable information about how to make your classic car more reliable, more powerful and more driveable. Andy shows you when to do-it-yourself and when it's best to let the pros do the work. Andy wants to dispel the myth that driving a classic car should be reserved only for Sunday afternoons in the summer and attending Classic Car Shows.

Classic Car Showcases - The Rocketeers may do an entire show on a particularly influential car, or they may take you on a trip to see lots of them at car shows. If you’ve never been to one as a spectator, it is quite an experience to be surrounded by a large group of welcoming car lovers. The atmosphere is truly electric and the sounds of rolling mechanical thunder will keep you wanting more.

The Rocketeers may share supernatural adventures one day then take you to a workshop where some of the finest automotive craftsmen in the world teach you the basics of bodywork, painting, chrome trim or upholstery repair the next.

Finally, the Rocketeers offer their services directly to customers in mechanical consulting as well as finding and project management of the restoration of your dream classic. Contact us for more information.

The Crew:

Ricky Rocket Ricky "Rocket" Erbe

At an early age, Rick developed a love for classic cars. Taking a test drive in a '67 Oldsmobile 442 in 1994 hooked him. Ever since he has had a curiosity and deep appreciation for American Muscle. Rick is well suited to contribute to the team as a writer and narrator since he was a program manager and comedy morning show producer on the radio back in his college days. With a Zany sense of humor and lots of ideas, he TRULY IS the GENIUS behind this project! Just kidding. HAHAHA Gotcha! Obviously, the other guys do a few things now and again!

Atomic Andy"Atomic" Andy Button

Andy was brought up on Muscle cars at an early age. When he was 3 years old his dad put him to the task of being another set of eyes and hands when working on cars. To this day, Andy has never stopped working on, and learning about cars. Between his dad's job as a high-school automotive teacher, and all the many project-cars and side-jobs... Andy has worked on so many different cars it would be impossible to list them all! There wasn't a domestic they didn't build, fix, or fix and rebuild. They didn't always have the resources to keep many of them, and as the cars were rebuilt or repaired, they were often traded one for another. In the late 70s, Andy switched from Oldsmobile Rockets to helping with Chevy's and Mopars. After graduating from "Dad" school, he went on the graduate from a local automotive vocational school and spent the next 25 years as a shop mechanic. On top of all of Andy's hands-on experience, he has a photographic memory and is able to remember an inconceivable amount of detail related to these now highly-sought-after vehicles; paint codes, fasteners, part numbers, engine and header codes, you name it! Even now that he has retired as a full-time shop-mechanic, he still gets calls from local professionals about old cars when they have questions that cannot be answered elsewhere. Oh... and it should be clear that Rick and Karl can't chew gum and walk without Andy's help. Bahahah...

Karl CrankshaftKarl "Crankshaft" Freer

Karl's first-ever car was a 1953 Chevy Bel Air 2-Door Coupe with an oil-bubbler air filter and PowerGlide automatic. At the time of purchase it was in the process of being restored and was a beautiful primer-brown - but he still used it as his daily driver. She was a beaut! That car started him on his love for classic cars. Not much of a mechanic himself, Karl brings a host of other techno-nerd skills to the table, such as obscure and un-relatable jokes, website development, audio/video editing, a mild case of OCD and some bad-a$$ camera work. Despite what Rick and Andy say... Karl is the real brains behind this project and they couldn't tie their shoes without him.
